Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house (Acts 16:30b-31).

And behold a certain lawyer stood up, tempting him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.  And he said unto him, Thou has answered right; this do, and thou shalt live (Luke 10:25-28).

If you are not saved, or if you are unsure whether you are saved, I invite you to listen to this sermon:

God's plan of salvation:

1.  No one deserves eternal life based on how good they live their life.  Recognize that we are all sinners, which means you are a sinner:

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one (Romans 3:10).
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

2. Recognize that sin came into the world because of the Original Sin of Adam in the Garden of Eden, which means that death is passed on to each generation, and because of our sin we need a Savior:

For as in Adam all die (1 Corinthians 15:22a)
Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Romans 5:12).

3. Realize the price for sin is not only death and hell, but eventually eternal separation from the Holy God in the lake of fire:

For the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a).
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.  This is the second death.  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:14-15).

4. However, the good news of the Gospel is that over 2,000 years ago the Father sent through a virgin His only begotten Son, Christ Jesus, who lived a sinless life, to die for us on the cross.  The Father’s immeasurable love for us was demonstrated by Christ’s death on the cross to pay the penalty for the sins of the whole world:

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive (1 Corinthians 15:21-22).

5. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He died in your place, to pay for your sin:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:18).

6. Recognize that salvation is God’s free gift, for we are saved through faith, not by any righteous works we do:

But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23b).
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God:  not of works, least any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).

7. Recognizing your sinful condition and your inability to pay the penalty for sin, you must call on God to be saved:

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13).
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9-10).

If you would like to call on the LORD for salvation, let us help you speak a prayer (realize that a person is not saved because they prayed a pray:  a person is saved by faith that Jesus, the Son of God, came to this Earth born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died to pay the penalty for the sins of all men on the cross, and then He rose from the dead; the spoken prayer is simply a person
’s demonstration of faith in Christ Jesus, as is baptism): “Father, forgive me for my sins.  I do believe that Jesus, the virgin-born, sinless Son of God, died for my sins and rose from the dead.  I repent of my sin, and turn from it to Christ.  By faith I am trusting in your free gift of righteousness, recognizing that nothing but the shed blood of Jesus can pay the price for my sins, and recognizing that nothing but my faith in the Son of God can give me eternal life.  Thank you for the gift of salvation, and thank you for saving me.  Amen.
